Jane Baker

Experience and knowledge yields results!

Born and bred in East London, from a very early age Jane had a fascination with horses.

Her training began at the age of twelve as a volunteer in a small, dusty, riding school under the arches of an East London flyover.

Having gained a solid amount of equine knowledge at the school Jane went on to further her knowledge at Plumpton Agricultural College in Sussex. It was there she studied such subjects as Equine Science and Health, Feeding and Nutrition, Stud Practice, Grassland Management plus Training and Exercise.

In 1995, Jane came to Australia on a 12-month working holiday.

Following a chance meeting with Tony Noonan, Jane commenced in the role of stablehand with Tony Noonan Racing. This role expanded into administration duties and foreman.

Jane remained with Tony Noonan, assisting him with the training of up to 100 horses for the following 11 years, until applying for a trainers license in 2005.

Since becoming a trainer Jane has gained a reputation as being very 'hands on' with great attention to detail.

She likes to make racing fun and affordable for her owners and with her versatile approach has had great success with all types of horses, from two-year-old sprinters to steeplechasers, many of them "cast-offs" from other trainers.

With thirty years experience with horses and twenty years with racehorses including stints with trainers Tony Noonan, Shane Stockdale and Robbie Griffiths your horse is in good hands at Jane Baker Racing Stables.

Jane is also the current Secretary of the South West Owners Trainers and Riders Association and a regular panel member on Warrnambool radio station 3YB's Racing Show.
